Kappabashi Kitchen Tools Street

Kappabashi Kitchen Tools Street is a shopping street where there are about 170 shops specializing in cooking and it was built in 1912, the Taisho era. It is located between Asakusa and Ueno, and 800 meters long from north to south. Its name derives from two hypotheses based on amagappa (raincoat) and kappa. It has items from old ones to new ones and various things such as cooking tools, tableware, and food samples. A festival is held there around the 9th of October, which is called the day of tools every year. You have to pay attention that the street is open till 5pm on weekdays and only about 30 percent of the shops open on Sundays and National holidays.

かっぱ橋道具街

かっぱ橋道具街は、大正時代に誕生した約170の食の専門店が集まる商店街です。
浅草と上野の中間に位置し、南北800mに及びます。
かっぱ橋の名前の由来は、雨合羽と河童の2つの説があります。
ここでは、レトロなものから最新のものまで、調理道具、食器、食品サンプル、などいろいろなものが手に入ります。
毎年、道具の日である10月9日周辺にお祭りを開催しています。
平日は17時まで、日曜・祝日は全体の約30%しか営業していないので注意が必要です。
