Kaminari-mon Gate

Kaminari-mon Gate is the main gate of Senso-ji Temple and it seems to be built in 942. It is famous for its big red lantern. Kaminari-mon Gate was named “FuRaijin Gate” originally, and Fujin (the god of the wind) and Raijin (the god of the thunder) were enshrined to protect the temple from natural disasters at both side of the gate. At the bottom of the lantern, a dragon is drawn. Why don’t you look for the dragon as well as Fujin and Raijin?

雷門

雷門は浅草寺の総門で、942年に建てられたと言われています。
大きな赤提灯で有名です。
雷門の正式名称は風雷神門で、自然災害から寺を守るために、風神と雷神が左右に祀られています。
提灯の底には、龍が描かれています。
風神と雷神同様龍を探してみましょう。

Water-bus

When you get on the water-bus from Asakusa, you can go on a cruise around Tokyo Bay. The water-bus maximum capacity is about 200 people, so you can ride on it relatively easily except for the tourist season. Since it has the roof, you can enjoy the cruise even when it is rainy. As the water-bus from Asakusa goes down the Sumida river and goes around Hamarikyu garden, Hinode pier, and Odaiba Kaihin park, you can visit Tokyo efficiently. In addition, you can see the changing city view of Tokyo such as Tokyo Skytree, Tokyo Tower, and Rainbow Bridge.

水上バス

浅草発の水上バスに乗ると、東京湾臨海をクルージングできます。
定員が約200名で観光シーズンを除けば比較的のんびり乗ることができます。
屋根があるので、雨の日でも楽しむことができます。
浅草から出発する水上バスは、隅田川を下り、浜離宮恩賜庭園、日の出桟橋、お台場海浜公園などをまわるので、東京の名所を効率よく訪れることができます。
また、東京スカイツリー、東京タワー、レインボーブリッジなど、変わりゆく東京の街並みをみることもできます。

Kappabashi Kitchen Tools Street

Kappabashi Kitchen Tools Street

Kappabashi Kitchen Tools Street is a shopping street where there are about 170 shops specializing in cooking and it was built in 1912, the Taisho era. It is located between Asakusa and Ueno, and 800 meters long from north to south. Its name derives from two hypotheses based on amagappa (raincoat) and kappa. It has items from old ones to new ones and various things such as cooking tools, tableware, and food samples. A festival is held there around the 9th of October, which is called the day of tools every year. You have to pay attention that the street is open till 5pm on weekdays and only about 30 percent of the shops open on Sundays and National holidays.

かっぱ橋道具街

かっぱ橋道具街は、大正時代に誕生した約170の食の専門店が集まる商店街です。
浅草と上野の中間に位置し、南北800mに及びます。
かっぱ橋の名前の由来は、雨合羽と河童の２つの説があります。
ここでは、レトロなものから最新のものまで、調理道具、食器、食品サンプル、などいろいろなものが手に入ります。
毎年、道具の日である10月9日周辺にお祭りを開催しています。
平日は17時まで、日曜・祝日は全体の約30%しか営業していないので注意が必要です。

Asakusa Hanayashiki

Asakusa Hanayashiki

Asakusa Hanayashiki is the oldest amusement park in Japan and it is located to the west of Sensoji Temple in Asakusa, Tokyo. It was built as a flower park exhibiting peonies and chrysanthemums and so on in 1853. It has the oldest roller coaster in Japan and Bee Tower from which you can see the whole of Asakusa city.

浅草花やしき

浅草花やしきは、浅草の浅草寺の西に位置する、日本最初の遊園地です。
1853年に、牡丹や菊などを展示する花園として設立されました。
日本に現存する最古のローラーコースター、そして浅草の町を一望するBeeタワーがあります。
