Roppongi

Roppongi

Roppongi is a city, which has luxury fashion, gourmet food, and art. There are luxury brand shops, Michelin-starred restaurants, and some of the best museums in Japan. Roppongi Hills and Tokyo Midtown are famous for their large commercial facilities with offices, residences, restaurants, and shops. Roppongi Hills has a TV station, TV Asahi.
In terms of art, Roppongi has the Tokyo National Art Center, Mori Arts Center Gallery, Suntory Museum of Art, and so on. You can also enjoy nature such as Mori Garden (Roppongi Hills) and Midtown Garden (Tokyo Midtown). There are many local people and tourists in theater restaurants such as 六本木金魚, late-night bars, and clubs at the night.

六本木

六本木は、ラグジュアリーなファッション・グルメ・アートの街です。
高級ブランドショップ、ミシュランの星付きレストラン、日本が誇る美術館があります。
六本木ヒルズと東京ミッドタウンという、オフィスや住居、レストランやショップが入った大型商業施設が有名です。
六本木ヒルズには、テレビ朝日があります。
また、アートという側面では、新国立美術館、森アーツセンターギャラリー、サントリー美術館などがあります。
毛利庭園(六本木ヒルズ)、ミッドタウン・ガーデン(東京ミッドタウン)など自然を楽しむことができます。
六本木金魚のようなシアターレストラン、深夜バー、クラブが、地元民や観光客で夜を賑わせます。

Shibuya

Shibuya

Shibuya is famous as a place of dispatching station of young culture. Shibuya is undergoing major changes because of the redevelopment during the last few years. Until now, the scrambled intersection, the meeting place “Hachiko Memorial Statue”, and the symbolic street of Shibuya “Shibuya Center Street” were popular. However, in addition to “Tokyu Plaza Shibuya”, “Shibuya Hikarie” and “Shibuya Mark City”, in recent years, “MIYASHITA PARK” on the new street, “Shibuya Scramble Square” with an observation deck, “Shibuya Stream” with many restaurants, IKEA’s first 7-story “IKEA Shibuya” have become new symbols of Shibuya. Of course, “Shibuya Cast”, “Bunkamura”, “Shibuya PARCO”, “Yoyogi Park” and “Cosmo Planetarium Shibuya” are still popular. Why don’t you enjoy the old and new periods in the changing Shibuya?

渋谷

渋谷は、若者文化発信の地として有名です。
渋谷はここ数年の再開発により、大きく変わりつつあります。
これまで、スクランブル交差点、待ち合わせ場所の「忠犬ハチ公像」、渋谷のシンボルのストリートの「渋谷センター街」が有名でした。
ところが、「東急プラザ渋谷」「渋谷ヒカリエ」「渋谷マークシティ」に加え、ここ数年で、新ストリートの「MIYASHITA PARK」、展望デッキのある「渋谷スクランブルスクエア」、レストランがひしめく「渋谷ストリーム」、IKEA初7階建ての「IKEA渋谷」が新たな渋谷のシンボルとなりました。
もちろん、「渋谷キャスト」「Bunkamura」「渋谷PARCO」や「代々木公園」「コスモプラネタリウム渋谷」も健在です。

Haneda Airport

Haneda airport

Haneda Airport is officially called Tokyo International Airport and it is the largest airport in Japan. It was the world’s 5th-largest airport in terms of passenger traffic in 2019. From the observation deck, you can see many planes taking off and landing. The international passenger terminal has an Edo alley (江戸小路) where you can enjoy the atmosphere of the Edo period, which is popular among foreign travellers. There are also many restaurants and shops unique to Japan. Both those who fly and those who do not can enjoy this spot.

羽田空港

羽田空港は、正式には東京国際空港といい、日本最大の空港です。
2019年の乗降客数は、世界5位です。
展望デッキから、多くの飛行機が離着陸するところを見ることができます。
国際線旅客ターミナルには、江戸の雰囲気を味わえる江戸小路があり、外国人に人気です。
日本ならではのレストラン、ショップも多くあります。
飛行機を利用する人もしない人も楽しめるスポットです。

Tokyo Station

Tokyo Station

Tokyo Station is a terminal station with a beautiful renovated Marunouchi station building, where JR conventional lines, various bullet trains (Shinkansen), and subway Marunouchi lines arrive and depart. As Ekinaka (in the station) and Ekichika (near the station) have a lot of facilities, it constitutes one city rather than a station. In Ekinaka, you may as well visit Gin no Suzu, Tokyo Station Gallery, and Tokyo Ramen Street. In Ekichika, you may as well visit Marunouchi Building, KITTE, Marunouchi Brick Square, Wadakura Fountain Park, Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum, Meiji Seimei Kan, Granroof, Marunouchi Naka Dori Street, and Gyoko Dori. If you visit Tokyo Station, why don’t you take a detour.

東京駅

東京駅は、JR在来線、各種新幹線、地下鉄丸の内線の発着する、復原された丸の内校舎が美しいターミナル駅です。
エキナカ、エキチカの充実ぶりから、駅というより1つの街を構成しています。
エキナカでは、銀の鈴、東京ステーションギャラリー、東京ラーメンストリートなどが見どころです。
エキチカでは、丸ビル、KITTE、丸の内ブリックスクエア、和田倉噴水公園、三菱一号館美術館、明治生命館、グランルーフ、丸の内仲通り、行幸通りなどが見どころです。
東京駅へ行ったら、少し寄り道してみましょう。

Ise Jingu (Shrine)

Ise Jingu

Ise Jingu (Shrine) includes 125 jinjas (shinto shrines) such as Naiku and Geku. Naiku is dedicated to Amaterasu-Omikami and Geku is dedicated to Toyouke-no-Omikami. Thus, the forest where the Gods live is the origin of life.
For example, there are big trees living for a few hundred years, the beautiful Isuzu river, and many kinds of animals and plants. Near Ise Jingu, there is Okage-Yokocho which was renovated to reproduce the atmosphere of the town from the Edo period to the Meiji period. You can enjoy old-flavor foods and experience history, customs, and kindness of the people there.

伊勢神宮

伊勢神宮は、内宮と外宮を含めた125の宮社から成り立ちます。
内宮は天照大御神をお祀りし、外宮は豊受大御神をお祀りしています。
また、神が宿ると言われる伊勢神宮の森は、生命の源です。
例えば、樹齢数百年と呼ばれる巨木、澄んだ流れの五十鈴川、多種多様な動植物が生息しています。
近くには、江戸時代末期から明治時代初期の鳥居前町の町並みを再現したおかげ横丁があります。
そこでは、老舗の味を楽しんだり、歴史や風習、人情を体験することができます。

Hakone

Hakone is a popular tourist spot, which you can visit in about 90 minutes from Tokyo.
The reasons why Hakone is so popular are as follows.

  1. You can enjoy nature (Ashi Lake, Owaku valley, view of Mt. Fuji)
  2. You can enjoy various hot springs (Hakone 17 hot springs)
  3. There are many museums (Hakone Open Air Museum, Hakone Glass Forest, Little Prince Museum)

Kaminari-mon Gate

Kaminari-mon Gate

Kaminari-mon Gate is the main gate of Senso-ji Temple and it seems to be built in 942. It is famous for its big red lantern. Kaminari-mon Gate was named “FuRaijin Gate” originally, and Fujin (the god of the wind) and Raijin (the god of the thunder) were enshrined to protect the temple from natural disasters at both side of the gate. At the bottom of the lantern, a dragon is drawn. Why don’t you look for the dragon as well as Fujin and Raijin?

雷門

雷門は浅草寺の総門で、942年に建てられたと言われています。
大きな赤提灯で有名です。
雷門の正式名称は風雷神門で、自然災害から寺を守るために、風神と雷神が左右に祀られています。
提灯の底には、龍が描かれています。
風神と雷神同様龍を探してみましょう。

Rickshaws

A rickshaw is a car by which a man conveys people. These days, it is used in tourist spots, such as Asakusa in Tokyo and Arashiyama in Kyoto. The rickshaw men with happi coats and tabi socks guide the tourist areas. They show both popular attractions and good unknown spots which only local people know. Why don’t you use rickshaws if you don’t know what attractions you should see?

人力車

人力車は、人の力で人を運ぶ車です。
現在は、浅草や京都嵐山の観光地でよく利用されます。
はっぴ姿、足袋の車夫が、観光スポットをガイドして巡ります。
定番の名所から地元の方のみが知る穴場まで案内してくれます。
観光スポットのどこを回ればよいかわからない場合、利用してはどうでしょうか？

Water-bus

Water-bus

When you get on the water-bus from Asakusa, you can go on a cruise around Tokyo Bay. The water-bus maximum capacity is about 200 people, so you can ride on it relatively easily except for the tourist season. Since it has the roof, you can enjoy the cruise even when it is rainy. As the water-bus from Asakusa goes down the Sumida river and goes around Hamarikyu garden, Hinode pier, and Odaiba Kaihin park, you can visit Tokyo efficiently. In addition, you can see the changing city view of Tokyo such as Tokyo Skytree, Tokyo Tower, and Rainbow Bridge.

水上バス

浅草発の水上バスに乗ると、東京湾臨海をクルージングできます。
定員が約200名で観光シーズンを除けば比較的のんびり乗ることができます。
屋根があるので、雨の日でも楽しむことができます。
浅草から出発する水上バスは、隅田川を下り、浜離宮恩賜庭園、日の出桟橋、お台場海浜公園などをまわるので、東京の名所を効率よく訪れることができます。
また、東京スカイツリー、東京タワー、レインボーブリッジなど、変わりゆく東京の街並みをみることもできます。

Tokyo Skytree

Tokyo Skytree

The Tokyo Skytree was built in 2012 and is the highest broadcasting tower in the world. It is 634 meters high. Around the tower, there are a lot of commercial buildings including restaurants and office buildings, which are called Tokyo Solamachi. In addition, there is an aquarium and a planetarium around there, which are all called Tokyo Skytree Town. You can see the whole of Tokyo city from the observation deck in the tower. On sunny days, you can see Mt.Fuji. Tokyo Skytree Town has so many attractions that you can enjoy all day long.

東京スカイツリー

東京スカイツリーは、2012年に完成した、世界一高いの電波塔です。
634mの高さをほこります。
まわりには、たくさんのレストランやオフィスビルなどの商業施設があり、東京ソラマチと呼ばれます。
また、水族館、プラネタリウムもあり、これらをあわせて東京スカイツリータウンと呼ばれます。
東京スカイツリーの展望デッキからは東京の街並みを一望することができます。
晴れた日には、富士山をみることができます。
たくさんの観光スポットがあり、一日中楽しむことができます。
